Jagariya: a path towards indestructible wakefulness

What is Wakefulness?

The Pali word Jagariya or Jagaram in Sanskrit signifies an ability to stay awake. The practice of wakefulness was advised by the Buddha to develop for the monks to support mindfulness (sati) and concentration (samadhi). However, the energetic foundations of this practice are not explicitly elucidated within the suttas.

To help bridge this gap of understanding between developing the mind and training the body, we have brought together a set of practices to condition, open and prepare the body, generate energy, and govern the mind’s attention, such that the quality of wakefulness could be integrated in our lives and support our practice.

How will we develop Wakefulness?

What practices will we explore during Jagariya?

  • Martial Arts Principles and Practices

  • Foundations of Qigong

  • Harmonisation of the Elements

  • The Art of Resting & Dantian Development

  • Creating Conditions for Flow

  • Compassion Cultivation

  • Making our Life our Practice

A detailed breakdown of practices can be found here.
